There was a forecast for heavy thunder in the afternoon so we decided to shorten this walk by taking a bus the first 6km from Altaussee to Bad Aussee Bahnhof. From here the walk goes along the river Traun (and railway) down to Obertraun, with a stop for lunch at Koppenrast. After Obertraun, the walk continues along the east side of Hallstatter See up to the railway ferry to Hallstatt. Hallstatt is incredibly beautiful and probably therefore suffers terribly from over-tourism. It never actually thundered…
